POSITION SUMMARY:

All Saints Parish in Butler, PA needs a person who has compassionate, dedicated, and organizational attributes to serve our community in a unique and fulfilling ministry. This a full-time position (30-40 hours/week) that includes random days and hours, depending upon the circumstances and situations. This person will work out of the Saint Paul office in Butler, PA, report to the pastor, work with various staff members and parish volunteers.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This person will oversee both the pastoral care, and social outreach aspects of ministry within the parish territory.  Responsibilities include, but not exhaustive of the following:

 

• Coordinate, organize (with parishioner volunteers), and visit the homebound parishioners, nursing home resident parishioners, and hospital patient parishioners.
• Schedule monthly nursing home Masses.
• Plan funeral Masses with family members of deceased loved ones; visit the funeral home during visitation hours; assist at funeral Masses as needed.
• Work with and delegate funeral Mass planning amongst the parish funeral planning/assistance team members.
• Oversee the GriefShare program that the parish offers.
• Oversee the coordination and scheduling of the Tuesday evening dinner at Saint Paul Church.
• Oversee any parish food bank, and clothing collections.
• Assist with coordination and scheduling preparations of the annual City of Butler Thanksgiving meal.

POSITION TITLE: Maintenance Worker

JOB CLASSIFICATION: Full Time Non-Exempt

DEPARTMENT/PROGRAM: Business & Property Management

REPORTS TO: Assistant/Director of Maintenance

SCHEDULE: 40 hours per week

POSITION SUMMARY:
The position is an entry-level maintenance worker with a strong foundation in general building and grounds maintenance. The worker will apply hands-on skills and learn new techniques to contribute to a team environment with the primary responsibility for the general maintenance and custodial duties of parish facilities (Butler Catholic School) and grounds. The maintenance/custodial duties, e.g. general trouble shoot, repair and general maintenance of building systems – HVAC, Plumbing, Fire and Safety, Electrical; general custodial duties including trash removal, mopping, vacuuming, restroom cleaning, etc., in the church, social hall, rectory, offices, restrooms, and kitchen(s) and
groundskeeping. This position also includes the responsibility of assisting with set-ups and breakdowns of parish events throughout the year.

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent
• Requires a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Inspections and Troubleshooting:

• Regularly inspect buildings, equipment, and systems to identify potential issues and malfunctions.

Repairs and Maintenance:

• Perform both routine and specialized maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, and
• HVAC repairs.

Preventative Maintenance:

• Implement and manage preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
• Installation and Assembly:
• Install and assemble equipment, fixtures, and other components as needed.
• Conducted regular inspections of buildings and grounds, identifying potential issues.
  
  

Equipment and System Knowledge: 

• Demonstrate a working knowledge of various equipment, systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing), and tools.

Safety and Compliance:

• Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.

Record Keeping and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair tasks, and report issues to supervisors.

Custodial Duties:

• Performs typical custodial/cleaning tasks.
  • Wash and sanitize restrooms, vacuums carpeted areas, and dusts all surfaces in Social Hall, Offices, Rectory (as assigned) and Church.
  • Cleans kitchen sinks, counters, and microwave in Office and Hall Kitchen.
  • Empties trashcans and transports trash to outside dumpster; vacuums/mops floors weekly in the church, office and parish hall.
  • Dusts all furniture in public areas, mops kitchen, bathrooms, and front office entrance floors, cleans bathrooms and window sills in public areas in Church, Office and Hall. 
  • Washes windows 
  • Wipes out the refrigerator/freezers, wipes baseboards, dusts blinds, and ceiling corners, vacuums along baseboards and in corners in the Parish Office and church at least once a month.
  • Upon request of the occupant of individual offices: empties trashcans, vacuums floors, dusts furniture, cleans windowsills.
  • Performs monthly, semiannual, or annual custodial duties and projects as directed by the Director/Assistant Director of Maintenance and in accordance with maintenance schedules.
  • Secures and safely stores all cleaning supplies and equipment after completion of cleaning
  • Maintains supplies and requests for the purchase of necessary supplies and equipment. Keeps restrooms stocked with soap, towels, bathroom paper, etc.
  • Maintains all cleaning equipment in a safe and working order.
  • Responsible for reviewing the daily calendar of events and placing set-ups and breakdowns.
  • Remove debris, leaves, and litter from church grounds.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

• Safe Environment for Children: As with all positions that involve contact with children in the Diocese of Pittsburgh, this ministry comes under the Safe Environment Policy of the diocese which requires clearances, i.e. criminal and child abuse history, a Protecting God’s Children attendance certificate, a signed copy of the Code of Pastoral Conduct, Mandated Reporter Training and FBI clearance.
• Must possess necessary janitorial skills and knowledge.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule.
• Ability to perform outlined tasks with minimal supervision.
• Must have effective organizational and time management skills.
• Familiarity with cleaning/janitorial equipment and supplies and their safe use and storage.
• Ability to work and communicate.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of all office records which may be accessible in individual offices.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Typical Working Conditions: Generally, indoors but may include outdoor. Often working around campus which requires walking and standing up. Work with cleaning supplies and chemicals.

Equipment Used: General maintenance tools, groundskeeping tools and equipment, Various cleaning equipment. Utilize various hand and power tools, including saws, drills, and wrenches.

Essential Physical Tasks: Communicate, move, reach, climb ladder, remain stationary, and occasionally carry materials as needed weighing up to 50 lbs. without assistance.
